All is quiet
Only me, here at my desk
No one else is in
But I am not alone
You see me through the glass
You watch me
You watch my comings and my goings
You watch me scrabble at the keyboard
You watch me bustle round the room
You stand silent, still
A constant steadfast presence
You hold out your arms and gather in
your rustling neighbours, who
gently wave and tremble
in tune with the air that moves
You reach above them
To the sky, the passing clouds
Which skim the blue and breathe with you
You offer rest to creatures on the wing
To birds, to beetles, insects and
The leaping squirrels
Beneath your feet,
Your roots reach out to other trees
And join
The mycorrhizal network which
Breathes and shares with you
Both sustenance and danger
From deep within,
your love, my love
Our connection
is unconditional
I thank you from my heart
Alo I am in your presence, face to face
Ha we share our breath, the breath of life
We are one
Aloha Mother Tree
