IIn Cornwall, links to National Emergency Briefing showings have been shared, and many Friends have already attended some of these. On June 6 at Trinity Church, St Austell, there were over 100 people in the church including quite a few Quakers, and an atmosphere of enthusiasm to “do something”.
I have joined CASA (Climate Action St Austell) and feel very pleased to have met so many people interested in this topic. It seems important for the sake of the Earth, for us to form smaller, local groups, develop emergency plans, and increase our efforts to grow local food. https://www.climateactionstaustell.org/
Most of all, we need to get to know our neighbours more closely. I was chatting to a neighbour this afternoon. We were talking about the alarming temperatures forecast for mid-June, and then we saw a great spotted woodpecker in the garden. Life can be difficult and quite thrilling at the same time.
